The '''{{PAGENAME}}''' is a [[Artesanato#Misc|craftable]] storage item in [[Stardew Valley]]. It stores up to 36 different types of items. You can stack a maximum of 999 identical items into a single slot. Items do not decompose in chests.
Chests can be left in many different places in Stardew Valley. However if a chest is left on a walking pathway for a [[Aldeões|villager]] it will disappear, along with all of its contents. It is not known if this is a bug or a deliberate design element (''i.e.'', some form of "theft").
An empty chest can be picked up and returned to inventory by hitting it with any tool. Chests with any items inside cannot be picked up.
==Coloring==
When opened, chests have a color bar above their inventory window which allows players to select a different color for the chest. This can be changed at anytime without cost. There are 20 colors available to select in the color picker.
==Chests outside the farm==
It is possible to place chests (or other [[Artesanato|craftable]] items such as [[Fornalha]]s or [[Apiário]]s) around town in many locations. This is useful to allow the player to store items for gifts close to the home of a [[Aldeões|villager]] that loves particular items or to allow additional storage when [[Fishing]] or [[Foraging]]. If a [[Aldeões|villager]] walks through the square where a chest (or similar item) was left, the item will be destroyed. Below are player-created maps to indicate which tiles on the map are safe from [[Aldeões|villager]]-pathing.
